Frequently asked

The map doesn't match the sky when I hold my phone up.

The compass needs a moment to settle. Move your phone in a slow figure of eight, away from metal objects and magnets (phone cases with magnets can disturb it). Also check that Skylore may use your location, or pick your city by hand from the place button at the top.

Why can't I see the stars on the screen in the real sky?

City lights and the Moon hide the faint stars. In Settings → Atmosphere you can set the light pollution of your place, and the map will show only what you can really see.

How do I find a planet or a star?

Tap the search button at the top right and type its name. Skylore turns to it and shows where it is, even if it is below the horizon right now.

What is night mode?

Night mode turns the sky red so your eyes stay used to the dark while you observe. Turn it on in Settings → View.

Can I see the sky on another date or from another place?

Yes. Tap the clock at the top to move through time, or the place button to choose any city on Earth.

Does Skylore work without internet?

Yes. The stars, planets, the Moon and sky events are all calculated on your phone. Only satellite positions and the aurora forecast need to be refreshed online now and then.

Where are my observation log and badges saved?

On your phone. They are deleted if you delete the app.
